HEAD OF SCHOOL
Cailin grew up in Oregon and was first introduced to the Montessori Method as a child in her mother’s Montessori classroom. She spent her elementary years volunteering in the early childhood classroom after school.
As a young adult she volunteered and worked with an agency call Youth Empowerment Skills Foundation. This organization taught leadership, self-discipline, and responsibility to teens. It was here that she discovered her vision to make a difference in the lives of children.
Cailin earned a bachelor’s in elementary education with magna cum laude honors from MSU-Billings. She also earned an endorsement in Reading Education. She has 10 years of teaching experience in early childhood through upper elementary. She holds a Montana teaching certificate. Her Montessori Certifications include Primary (ages 3-6) and Early Elementary (ages 6-9) through North American Montessori Center. In addition she completed a residency program with Age of Montessori (MACTE) in Early Elementary.
The growth and beauty of the outdoors and nature are passions that Cailin enjoys sharing with her husband and 3 children in beautiful Montana.
Amber has been with SMS since October 2017 and is very excited to be part of school. She was born and raised in Washington State, moved to Kalispell in 2005 and settled in Billings in 2016 after graduating from Montana State University.

Also known as the “go to” person for billing and schedules. She loves being a part of SMS (both as an administrator and parent) and is eager to share the Montessori philosophy and vibrant community of SMS with other families as they search for early education for their children.
When not in the office, Amber spends most of her time with her family, Josh and three children, Matilda, Jaxon, and JR. Amber enjoys gardening, fishing, and camping with her family.
LILAC LEAD TEACHER
Originally from South Dakota, this is Rachel’s third year in Billings. She found her home at Sunrise as an assistant in the former Garden Room (now the Daisy room) and is so thankful she did! She knew about Montessori at an early age through her younger brother, who attended a Montessori school for his E.C. education. After receiving a bachelors degree in Public Relations and Advertising she knew soon after it was not meant for her, so she pursued a teaching career because of her love and admiration for children. She is in the process of receiving her Early Childhood Certification from Age of Montessori. She is so excited to begin her third year at Sunrise as the Lead teacher in the Lilac Room!
Outside of school she will be hard at work on her certification, but if she can find time you can find her walking her crazy dog, Koda, hanging out at coffee shops around Billings, somewhere in the Beartooths or visiting friends and family around the country.
SUNFLOWER LEAD TEACHER
Jackie was born in New Jersey and grew up in Dallas, Texas. She went to college at Texas State University where she received a bachelor of arts in Journalism. She spent a few years editing technical publications and then became a technical writer for a software development company in Austin, Texas. She left that field thinking that working with children would be more rewarding. She tried many different types of preschools and daycare centers and loved the Montessori method because the peace and order seemed to provide the space for the child to best grow into a healthy, nurtured, independent individual.
She completed the Association Montessori International (AMI) training in Dallas, Texas. During the training, she got married and started a family and shifted her focus to raising her 4 children. Over the years, she has worked at Montessori schools in Portland, Oregon; Austin, Texas; and Dallas, Texas. She and her family moved to Billings in 1998 and Laurel became her home in 2009. She has worked at many of the Montessori schools in and around Billings. She spent 6 years at Meadowlark Elementary as a paraprofessional in the Resource room, where she was able to use Montessori techniques successfully with children who had learning disabilities.
DAISY LEAD TEACHER
Cyndi earned her Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Human Development and Psychology. She was a substitute teacher in the California public schooling system for five years, and always sought to have a meaningful impact with the children she taught. She began working with children at a very early age, and worked everywhere from summer camps, to church nurseries, babysitting to behavioral therapist. Her passion is working with children as individuals, discovering their unique needs, and helping them to grow and flourish. She currently teaches English as a second language online, is the lead teacher of the Daisy room, and keeps busy raising her two boys.
When she’s not at work, she enjoys hand lettering and swing dancing.
Her favorite thing about teaching is watching children transform bit by bit, having those moments of growth, and celebrating the victories with them.

I have nearly 16 years of experience teaching Title 1 in Roundup, MT. During my time there, I taught grades 3 and kindergarten focusing on math and reading. I have been married for almost 40 years and have three grown children. In my spare time, I play the guitar, fiddle, bass and mandolin. My husband and myself organize a music camp that is held the first two weeks in June.
My name is Diane and I recently moved to Billings in September. I am originally from PA and moved to Arizona in 1990. I am a retired PE teacher and I have a 26 year old son, Jimmy.
I simply love Montana and I enjoy working with the students and teachers at Sunrise Montessori!
I was born and raised in Billings Montana. I am seventeen and a current senior at Skyview Highschool. I have always enjoyed working with children and would like to become a secondary English literature teacher. I plan to attend MSU Bozeman in the fall of 2019. After working at Sunrise I have decided to look into getting my Montessori teaching license.
In my free time I enjoy hiking, boating, playing my saxophone, and teakwondo. I also enjoy walking my dogs.
